Gedion Zelalem has been linked with a loan move to Bolton Wanderers – Rob Holding’s former club.

The midfielder, who last season enjoyed a loan spell with Rangers, is rumoured to be off to the League One club since it’s unlikely that he’ll get playing time in north London.

Although this is true, he’s still only 19 years old, he could be set for a stint in our youth squad. Just because he’s on our books doesn’t mean to say he has to be challenging for first team positions this very second.

The report on ESPN seems to be the main source of the rumour and it doesn’t sound completely outlandish considering we did just buy Rob Holding, Bolton’s player of the season. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to suggest that we’re on good terms with the club.

What’s clear is that transfer deadline day will mainly be about outgoings rather than new signings. Jack Wilshere, Calum Chambers and Serge Gnabry have all been linked with moves away from the club, either on loan or permanently, but it looks like these deals won’t be wrapped up until later.
