Although the press keep insisting Arsenal are trying to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan it seems that Napoli may be the only club that are really doing anything about it.

With the player rumoured to be close to agreeing a new deal with Inter, there were ridiculous reports that Arsenal were going to offer their only fit, senior striker plus €34m for the Argentine but that’s just not going to happen.

Tuesday morning saw claims that Chelsea have abandoned their chase of Romelu Lukaku and have now switched their attentions to the Serie A forward, but Gianluca Di Marzio are now reporting Wanda Nara, Icardi’s wife and agent, is in Naples to meet with the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The good news about that, if it’s true, is that it won’t be long until we find out what happened because De Laurentiis finds it impossible to keep his mouth shut for a prolonged period of time.

Having lost Gonzalo Higuain, despite publicly stating many times that he would not sell him to Juve, he needs to make a statement to pacify fans.

He seems to have identified Icardi as the man to deliver that statement

Napoli are believed to have already offered €48m plus €2m in bonuses.

Meanwhile, Nara has added, “Changes are for the brave, the cowardly always prefers to stay where they are even if they are not happy.”
