The Evening Standard are claiming that Chuba Akpom could go out on loan before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

They don’t appear to know where he could be headed but after the striker spent last season on loan with Hull City and spoke highly of the experience, they’ve put two and two together and decided that he might be going somewhere.

Akpom had a brilliant pre-season, which Arsene Wenger has highlighted when talking about the EFL Cup, so loaning him out might seem like an odd move. The boss has spoken very highly of the player recently and it would be logical to assume that he’s part of Wenger’s plans. The Telegraph even reported earlier in the month that Akpom had been told he was staying in north London this season.

“I believe a club like ours is focused on giving chances to the players we develop in our own club,” Wenger said recently.

“We have a few strikers who have a chance, if we find the right players we buy.

“It is not that easy – look at a club like Real Madrid, who have they bought? Up front, it is very difficult”

“[Akpom can play up front], Theo as well, it is an important season for Theo, because last year he had a difficult period.

“He can play as a striker and his numbers are excellent when he plays up front, we have Giroud, Sanchez, Walcott, Akpom and (Yaya) Sanogo who is still here but is injured at the moment – the players we buy have to be better.”

Saying that, it could happen since just about all of our youngsters apparently want to run off at the moment.

The report itself, however, appears to be pure speculation considering they just claim that he could go out on loan. In theory, anyone of our players COULD go out on loan. Whether they’re being genuinely linked with another club is the question.

If this is a genuine story, I’m sure we’ll hear more about it very soon.
