Calum Chambers has now joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan and his new coach claims he was the player they were waiting for.

The newly promoted side have apparently been on the hunt for a defender and with Chambers seeking regular game time, it was a match made in heaven.

On Tuesday, the 21-year-old rocked up for his medical and the deal was completed later that evening.

‘Boro boss, Aitor Karanka, claims that the club didn’t rush the deal because Chambers was always the man they wanted.

“I’m really pleased,” Karanka said to ‘Boro’s website.
“It’s a position where we’ve been working towards bringing the right player in.
“We haven’t been in a hurry because Calum was the player we were waiting for, and he’s going to help us a lot.
“I’d like to say thank you to him because we know he had another offer, but he wanted to come here. That’s important and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

The loan move will be a fantastic opportunity for a defender who has huge potential. He’s a little raw but he clearly has a future at Arsenal.

After Arsenal completed the signing of Shkodran Mustafi, Chambers didn’t have a place in the first team, so loaning him to somewhere that actually currently need him should do him the world of good.

Hopefully, it all works out for him. Good luck, Calum.
