Bryan Ruiz welcomed Joel Campbell to his new club, Sporting, after the forward completed his move to the Portuguese team this weekend.

Campbell is there for a season on loan and former Fulham player, Ruiz, wasted no time in congratulating his Costa Rica compatriot on the move.

Ruiz played for Fulham for four years. When he signed for them in 2011, they were still in the Premier League but after they were relegated two years after he joined, he went out on loan to PSV and now plays full-time for Sporting.

It’s good to see Campbell’s new teammates are excited to see him, particularly as Ruiz also players internationally for Costa Rica. Although he was always smiley, I never got the feeling he had any close bonds with anyone at Arsenal.

What will happen after this loan spell, we don’t know but we’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.
