The Sun are claiming that Arsenal are set to have a bid of £16m for West Brom centre-back rejected.

Apparently, £16m isn’t enough to tempt the baggies to part with the 28-year-old, who only signed for them from the Red Devils last season for a reported £6m.

To be fair, Evans went on to feature heavily for West Brom but that doesn’t mean he should be a signing we should make. Sure, he’s Premier League ready and, given his age, shouldn’t cost a great deal but I’m sure there are certain centre-backs out there who are for more suited to our style of play.

Saying that, this rumour is such a curve-ball that it might just be true. It’s been doing to rounds for a few weeks and now that Gabriel is out for six-to-eight weeks, we do need another centre-back and soon.

It couldn’t be true, could it? We can’t genuinely be after Jonny Evans? No… surely not.
