Fara Williams scored an 89th-minute penalty against Notts County Ladies on Friday night to put Arsenal Ladies through to the Conti Cup semi-finals.
The spot-kick from Fara Williams was controversial and came incredibly late on. Until this point, Arsenal Ladies and Notts County Ladies had been level – 2-2.
Arsenal initially took the lead through Casey Stoney in the ninth minute.

However, Notts County equalised before half-time through Whelen.

In the second half, Jess Clarke then put Notts County 2-1 ahead but Arsenal came back in the 82nd minute with an equaliser through Kelly Smith.
Minutes later, Arsenal had a penalty appeal waved away as Danielle Donk went to ground.
The Gunners continued to threaten before a penalty was awarded in the 89th minute, which Williams slotted home, putting Arsenal through to the Conti Cup semi-finals.

It’ll be tough for Notts County to take. Arsenal already beat them in the FA Cup this season and now they’ve knocked them out of another tournament. It was a controversial, dramatic win and an example of how fast-paced and exciting women’s football can be,
