Arsenal appear to be getting serious about Monaco defender, Marcel Tisserand, according to the media.

The 23-year-old was originally meant to be back-up in case our deal with Shkodran Mustafi fell through and now that Valencia’s manager has said the German is staying put, reports have emerged claiming that we’ve ‘approached’ Monaco for Tisserand.

The Mirror is even claiming that the player has put potential move to Spanish club Espanyol on hold, as he’s waiting to see if anything comes from the Gunners’ apparent interest.

With the Mustafi deal supposedly all up in the air, Arsenal fans are getting increasingly anxious so the media are more likely to link a number of players. Some we may have interest in and some we may not. For all we know, Mustafi is our only target! Although obviously we hope not…

Per Mertesacker is still out for around four months and Gabriel at least one. With just Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and a barely-fit Laurent Koscielny available, transfer deadline day is getting a bit close for comfort.
