Former Arsenal midfielder, Alex Song, has signed for Russian club Rubin Kazan after his Barcelona contract was cancelled.

The 28-year-old signed for the Catalans back in 2012 but they swiftly loaned him out to West Ham for two seasons. The midfielder made a grand total of 40 Premier League appearances for the Hammers while he was there after having to deal with his usual injury woes.

Barca clearly didn’t see a future for the Cameroon international and cancelled his contract, allowing him to join Rubin Kazan permanently.

According to reports, Song originally thought it would be just another loan move but clearly, Barcelona had other plans. Oops.

Song greeted his new fans, claiming that he was looking forward to getting on the pitch for them.

Song had such promise but once again, he’s just another example of a player who moved away in search of bigger things (cough bigger paycheck cough) and failed. Maybe one day they will learn to stick it out and not jump ship at the slightest sign of trouble.
