Wolfsburg’s sporting director, Klaus Allofs, believes that Julian Draxler should take the next step in his development by remaining with the club next season and showing what he can do.

With Draxler wanting to leave and Wolfsburg showing no signs of letting him have what he desires, at least not until next season when his release clause comes into play, Allofs has been speaking to the media to try and bring some calm to the situation.

He has already appealed to the public not to treat Draxler like a mercenary, stating that he just made a mistake, and now he’s laid out a plan for the German.

“He should now take the next step of development,” Allofs told Kicker

“The past year for us has been good for him, next season will bring him [on] again.

“Draxler’s importance for the team will be even greater than last year.”

It’s not even clear at this point if Arsenal are even trying to prise him away from the Bundesliga side or if that is all just paper speculation, which it seems like it might be.

Whatever it is, unless someone plumps down far more than Draxler is worth at 22, he’s going nowhere.

At least, not this summer.
