Wes Morgan has urged Riyad Mahrez to ignore the talk surrounding his Leicester City future and to focus on the job at hand.

Mahrez has been heavily linked with a move to both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer and although Claudio Ranieri appeared to put that rumour to bed by insisting that the forward is happy with the Foxes, Morgan has urged him to ‘follow in his footsteps’ and ignore the ‘talk’.

“I know there’s a lot of talking going off but hopefully everybody can follow in my footsteps,” he said.

“We want to maintain our key players and keep them and obviously build on that with the new players because we have got a lot to play for this season.

“We have some fantastic players and some of the bigger teams in Europe are going to want them.

“We need to focus on our job, let the people talk the talk and do what we can do on the pitch.”

It does appear as if Mahrez is staying with Leicester next season, which, to be honest, isn’t all that surprising. Now that they’ve lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, they’ll be doing everything they can to keep hold of their best assets and considering Mahrez was player of the season in May, he definitely fits into that category.

He won’t sign for Arsenal, not now anyway. But I will say one thing: Morgan urging him to ignore the ‘talk’ sounds a little desperate for a club that’s so sure he’s staying…
