20-year-old Dutch goalkeeper, Guy Smit, has joined Arsenal on a two-week trail.
Smit, who has turned down trials with various clubs, including Brighton, insists that he’s going to make the most of this opportunity to impress Arsene Wenger.
The goalkeeper’s contract with NEC Nijmegen (Eredivisie) is now up so he’s clearly keeping his options open. However, he’s yet to make a senior debut and will, therefore, be one to watch for our youth squad. Petr Cech’s position in the squad won’t be in danger anytime soon but it’ll be interesting to see how Smit does during his trial. This could signal that we looking to get rid of David Ospina after all.
