Over the past few days and old, familiar link, has started to surface – that of Julian Draxler to Arsenal.

When the club were linked with him in the past it seemed unlikely that we would sign him and despite this recent return to the headlines, I still feel the same.

Draxler only moved to Wolfsburg last summer, saying at the time that he didn’t feel ready for a move abroad.

Of course, a lot can change within a year but you have to imagine that if Draxler thought he’d be on the move to a foreign country in just 12 months, he probably wouldn’t have bothered himself moving in the first place.

There seems to be little to stand this rumour up at this point, mostly vague rumblings.

Arsenal’s interest in him is probably very real, but whether they are getting ready to make a move still remains to be seen.

I wouldn’t get excited about this one, it just whiffs of paper filler. Just two weeks ago, Klaus Allofs, director at Wolfsburg, told Germany broadcaster Sport1 “The situation with Draxler is 100 per cent certain that he will be staying at Wolfsburg.

“There is no discussing that.”
