The German media are claiming that Arsenal have submitted a €14m bid for Borussia Dortmund centre-back, Neven Subotic.
After the 27-year-old was given permission by Dortmund to miss training in order to negotiate a deal with a new club, a number of English teams – Stoke, Middlesbrough and Sunderland – have been linked but Bundesliga club, Cologne (a.k.a. Poldi’s motherland), have been the front-runners.
Now, according to the German Express, Arsenal have made a bid, swooping in to grab him after he was rumoured to have had a medical with Cologne – although the Express acknowledge that this is unlikely to have happened due to them not being able to bid as highly as others could.

After Gabriel failed to meet the standards we thought he would last season and Per Mertesacker, for one reason or another, was dropped to the bench increasingly often, it became clear that we might be on the look-out for a new centre-back this summer, so this link is entirely probable.
The Serbian only made six Bundesliga appearances last season, mainly because he was injured for a lot of the season; the year before that, he featured 28 times (40 in all competitions) and was a regular starter.
Watch him in action below.
