In probably one of the stranger rumours of the weekend, Manchester United defender, Daley Blind, was linked with a move to Arsenal.

According to the Mirror, new United manager, Jose Mourinho, reckons the 26-year-old is too short to play centre-back, which is where he was previously positioned. The Dutch defender, however, is known for his versatility and has been known to play both left-back and midfield.

The question is, who will utilise this versatility? If Mourinho thinks he’s too short (1.8m) to play as a centre-back, why would he not just move him out left?

Although Blind to Arsenal doesn’t look as if it would ever happen (would Jose ever sell anyone to Wenger, ever?) it’ll be interesting to see if we are looking at other left-backs besides Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez. Could this mean that Nacho Monreal, as well as potentially Kieran Gibbs, is potentially off sooner than we anticipated? We hope not.
