Olivier Giroud will be fit to face Ireland in the last 16 of the Euros after being ‘manipulated’ by physios.

With five goals in his last six games for his country, Giroud picked up a problem in his left adductor during training which was eased with stretching and massage.

The injury caused enough discomfort that he stopped training on Tuesday but was back to business on Wednesday.

He is expected to start against the Irish on Sunday as the hype around the game starts to focus on Thierry Henry’s infamous handball in 2009.
