Something quite unusual happened in the FA WSL with two players buying out their contract to leave their club.
Jo Potter and Jade Moore have both left Birmingham City Ladies during the mid-season break and while they had six months remaining on their current deals, they decided to buy their freedom.
This was confirmed in Birmingham City Ladies’ statement:
“The Club would like to place on record their thanks to Andrew Brooks from Agency Sport for assisting the negotiations and the girls for their service to the Blues Ladies.”
And also by the players’ agency tweet:
Landmark first for the women's game & End of a journey for @jade_moore20 @JoPotter8 first to buy out their contracts https://t.co/d5tKF5OhOP

It will be interesting to see if these moves start a new trend in women’s football and you do wonder if their new team will give them a signing on fee to compensate or if they will be left out of pocket.
