The Italian media are claiming that Arsenal have asked Everton about their goal machine, Romelu Lukaku.

The 23-year-old signed from Anderlecht to Chelsea in 2011 but only ended up making 10 appearances for the first team. He was swiftly loaned out to West Brom and then Everton where his progress as a striker began to gain momentum.

Failing to realise when they had a fantastic goalscorer on their hands, our south London rivals sold Lukaku to Everton permanently in 2014 and this is where he still is, scoring goals for fun (61 in 127 appearances, 22 assists).

For some reason, Italian site, TuttoMercatoWebis claiming that Arsenal (and PSG) have put in a cheeky inquiry and either could sign the Belgium international for around £31m.

Firstly, let’s just push aside the fact that this is coming from Italy for no good reason. Secondly, the price is a little fishy. Everton bought him for £28.5m and considering the pace at which he’s improving and the fact that he’s only 23, somehow I reckon the Toffies will want to make a better profit than that. Months ago, there was talk of him moving back to Chelsea for £60m. Bit of a difference.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love Lukaku. He reminds me of Didier Drogba in that I get genuinely anxious when Arsenal have to play him. But it won’t happen.
