Antoine Griezmann will sign a new deal and  remain at Atletico Madrid until 2021, dashing the hopes of Arsenal who have been heavily linked with the player.

Of course, their hopes will only be dashed if they were actually interested in him and there’s no concrete evidence to say that they were in the first place.

His release clause will be set at €100m and means he becomes only the second player at the club (Oblak) to have a three-figure fee.

Consistently reiterating that he is happy to stay where he is and that he has ‘much to learn’ from Diego Simeone, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from linking him with a host of Premier League clubs, simply switching out the ‘most likely’ one on a regular basis to keep things fresh.

Hopefully this will put an end to at least one non-runner in this window, but I wouldn’t count on it.
