Dreaming: Arsenal fans always tell ourselves we’re not going to do it this season but as soon as that fixture list is announced, we can’t help it.
On Wednesday, minutes after we saw the fixture list and Premier League clashes were announced, Gooners everywhere started scanning for the games that are really important. Spurs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool. They’re all up there with some of the first we’ll look up.
Liverpool at home on the opening day; Chelsea at home on the 24th September; Manchester City in December again…
Scan down, scan down, scan down…
Now, what do we have here? Tottenham at White Hart Lane on the 29th of April? There’s only three Premier League matches after that. It’s their last ever match in that stadium and we could, theoretically, win the title there. Our match after that is Manchester United at the Emirates… guard of honour anyone?
Yes, of course it’s a long, long, long shot. But we can dream. Especially if you’re on Twitter…
