Bolton have apparently accepted a £1.5m bid from Arsenal for central defender Rob Holding.

The Gunners have been interested in the 20-year-old for a while now and it seems as if a deal could be close if reports, which come via the Express (who got it from Football Insider), are to be believed.

Labelled ‘the next John Stones’ like John Stones is some sort of standard now, Arsenal reportedly bid £1.2m for him at the end of May but it seems as if the extra £300,000 could be enough to get the deal done despite it being claimed Bolton were holding out for closer to £4m.

There doesn’t seem to be much coverage of this latest development in the press in Bolton at the time of writing but given how this story has tracked so far I’d say it would be ok to believe most of it at present.

Holding’s Bolton contract expires next summer and the right-footed centreback played in 26 of Bolton’s league games last season.
