Arsene Wenger has targeted second place above Spurs on Arsenal’s final day of the season.

On Sunday, Arsenal face Aston Villa at home while our north London rivals travel to Newcastle. Both of our opposition have been relegated so, in theory, have nothing to fight for. You’d therefore assume that both London teams would come away with the three points, allowing us to finish in third and Spurs second, but the final day of the season often doesn’t go to plan.

Speaking ahead of our final game, the boss admitted that he would like to clinch second if possible.

“We want to finish as high as possible and, if possible, in front of Spurs, of course,” he said.

“We will fight until the end and if we are not second we will hopefully finish third. Ideally we want to get ahead of Spurs, of course.”

The chances of Newcastle managing a win against Spurs is pretty slim considering they couldn’t even beat bottom of the table Villa. In addition, we’ve shown we’re more than capable of messing up even the most straight forward of results. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll finish second but it would be quite funny if we did, no?
