Tottenham have reportedly beaten Arsenal to a striker we probably weren’t even interested in. Jonathan Calleri.

Brazilian journalist, Felipe Mekhitarian, has confirmed that the 22-year-old Sao Paulo man’s father has revealed a verbal agreement between his club and our north London rivals.

According to a report from Fichajes last December, Arsenal, as well as just about every other team in the world, have been watching the striker, who scored eight goals in 10 appearances last season.

However, other than this report, there seems to be very little actually linking us with the Argentine and even then, we were lumped in with a load of clubs, suggesting that someone on his side of things may have just been trying to get his name out there.

Either way, it now seems he’s destined for Spurs, which isn’t such a tragedy considering he’s not exactly Mr. Big Name Striker 90% of Gooners are baying for. Whether we get one fullstop will be interesting.
