Arsenal are watching the situation in east London as West Ham United and Reece Oxford struggle through contract talks.

The 17-year-old shone at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the season in a holding midfield role but has only made six more Premier League appearances all season.

As a result, the Mirror are reporting that his future is a little up in the air.

Oxford’s current contract at West Ham runs for just two more years and the Hammers are naturally eager to extend with a player seen as a big part of England’s future. The teenager, though, is keen to be assured he will be given more opportunities before extending.

With contract talks not really advancing, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all said to be watching on with interest.

Arsenal have been linked with Oxford in the past, and he would certainly fit the ball. Supposedly an Arsenal fan growing up, the player is versatile and most comfortable at the back, a position where the Gunners could really do with a young talent.

Both Manchester clubs also seem interesting options, particularly City. Pep Guardiola loves developing players and having his squad stacked with guys who can play in more than one position. Moreover, the Citizens need homegrown players.

Whether or not there’s anything in this remains to be seen, but Oxford is set for a huge future in the English game. He may end up staying at West Ham for now, but it won’t be long before England’s biggest and best clubs come knocking again.
