With the summer transfer window approaching, one player who looks almost certain to leave north London is Mathieu Debuchy.

The former Newcastle United man has only been at Arsenal for two seasons and spent the last five months out on loan at Bordeaux, now it appears his time will permanently be up.

Agitating for first team football, Debuchy sought a move in January after losing his place to Héctor Bellerín. Almost a decade younger than the Frenchman, there’s no chance of Bellerín relinquishing the place anytime soon and Debuchy had better move on.

Reports from France say the race for his signature is being led by French side Lyon, who would be prepared to offer around £5m for him.Arsenal

Arsenal aren’t desperate for money while Debuchy wants to leave and is ageing: that seems like the sort of fee that would get the deal done.

Bordeaux are also supposedly hoping to convince the right-back to rejoin them on a permanent basis, but Lyon are a much more favourable option with the pull of Champions League football.

Whatever happens, Debuchy won’t be at Arsenal come September and Lyon seem as good a bet as any if you’re guessing where he’ll end up.
