West Ham United have announced the signing of former Arsenal reserve team captain Havard Nordtveit.
The Norweigan was at Arsenal for three years as a teenager, captaining the reserve team before ultimately deciding he wouldn’t get enough playing time to progress in north London.
After a few loan spells, Nordtveit joined Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach where, for the past four years, he has been a teammate of Arsenal target Granit Xhaka.
Now, though, his contract in Germany is up after five years at the club and he’s on his way back to London.

That’s right, the Norweigan will be playing at the Olympic Stadium next season. He was linked with a return to Arsenal when it came out that his contract would be his last at Gladbach but the versatile leader has chosen the Hammers.
Capable of playing more than one role, he’s a good addition to the Premier League and it’s always nice to see former Arsenal players doing well.
Hopefully a good reception awaits Nordtveit at the Emirates Stadium after the summer. Let’s also hope he doesn’t come back to haunt us.
All the best with the Hammers, Havard!
