Ian Wright believes that Jack Wilshere needs to be more ‘mature and wiser’ about the company he keeps if he is to make it as a top level footballer.
With the whole footballing family getting their knickers in a twist over Jack being filmed chatting to police after an incident outside a London nightclub (he denies he was involved with anything), advice has been coming from all directions.
Arsenal legend, Wrighty, called on the player to show more maturity, which is good deal better than what Jason Burt was saying in the Telegraph. If it were up to him, Jack would never be allowed out of the house.
“You just want that maturity to start to kick in because at some stage he’s got to focus on being a top footballer,” Wright told ESPN.
“He wants to be a great footballer and leave a legacy, rather than having people talking about his off-field activities. For Jack, at some stage that has to kick in for him. And I’m sure it will.
“You have to be a bit more mature and wiser about the company you keep. That’s the only thing he has to learn, is the company you keep and the places you go.”
This whole thing is really something over nothing.
Yes, footballers are hailed as role models, but is that really their fault?
Jack is a 24-year-old young man with unlimited time and cash.
The real discussion should be how he stops himself from being on the front pages every day.
