Arsene Wenger hailed Watford’s efficiency last time they visited the Emirates and claimed that’s what we need to do on Saturday.

The Hornets traveled to the Emirates just a couple of weeks ago and managed to knock us out of the FA Cup. The afternoon was both disappointing and sobering. It showed exactly how fragile we’ve become.

“Watford is an efficient team,” Wenger told the press on Friday morning.

“They had three shots on goal and scored two goals [when they visited us].

“They’re defending well and well organised, very strong physically so overall I believe that we want to be more efficient with our chances that we create. [Last time we faced Watford] we created plenty of chances and we want to, of course, transform that better. Our expected goals scored, our percentage has to be higher.”

Our 2-0 away win to Everton before the international break was comforting. We played some of the best football we’ve played all season but instead of giving most of us hope, it mainly succeeded in forcing us to question why we haven’t played like that all along. Now it seems as if the title is truly out of our reach and to really win it, we’d have to claim three points in all our remaining games while Spurs and Leicester drop them. It seems unlikely.

However, being most efficient with the chances we create is a good way to start.
