Quique Sanchez Flores admitted that it’s an honour to play against Arsene Wenger.

The Watford boss, who has managed to keep the Hornets safe this season with seven Premier League fixtures to go, has described playing against Le Professeur as an honour. and stood by the manager, despite the recent uproar from the fans.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s match against Watford at the Emirates, the Spaniard also touched on the title race and admitted that it’ll be quite some task for us to catch Leicester, who are currently 11 points ahead at the top of the table.

“It’s a completely different competition, completely different scenario, completely different match,” Flores said.

“We need to prepare because they are a very good team but we want to win. Every match is very hard in England, in the FA Cup and the league. We are expecting a very tough match.”

He added, “They have to try to get to the top of the league but they have very good players. I think it is difficult for anyone to beat (Leicester).

“For Arsenal, they have a lot of pressure but anything can happen in the Premier League.

“Arsene Wenger has a lot of experience, I greatly admire him as a coach. What he is doing at Arsenal is very difficult.

“I respect the fans of Arsenal, they know a lot better than me, but I respect Arsene too. Every time I play against him it is an honour. He has been coaching for a long time.”

Flores probably recognises that Watford knocking us out in the FA Cup at the Emirates is one of the lowest points of our season. Out of three shots, the Hornets scored two, while our plethora of chances were either saved, hit the bar or were wide of the mark. It highlighted out fragility under pressure and although we then had to face Barcelona, our performance did look better.

Hopefully, we can look back at that loss to Watford as a turning point for the better.
