Top of the league in December, Arsenal fans didn’t expect to be out of the title race at the beginning of April, nor did Francis Coquelin.
The midfielder was sidelined for two months midway through the campaign and came back into the team without his usual midfield partner Santi Cazorla. Paired with Aaron Ramsey and now Mohamed Elneny, there isn’t quite the right balance in midfield and it’s one of a few things to have cost the Gunners.
It’s been frustrating for everyone and Coquelin knows what it’s like having spent two months cheering from the sidelines like the rest of us. With just five wins in our last 16 Premier League games, we’ve likely blown the chance to win the title.
