Arsène Wenger is enjoying the rare pleasure of having his entire first team squad in full training for around a week now.
The return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain almost a week ago meant every player is in training except Carl Jenkinson, who was only recalled from West Ham United due to an injury and wasn’t expected to be at Arsenal this season anyway.
With over a week of full training under his belt, this weekend’s game against Norwich City could see the return of Santi Cazorla. The Spanish midfielder hasn’t played since we drew with the Canaries at Carrow Road in November but finally looks ready to step back into the squad.
“Santi might be in the squad this weekend,” Wenger has told the official website.
“I don’t know yet. He is available. Everyone is available, but maybe Oxlade-Chamberlain is not competitive yet.”
There won’t be a place for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wenger will have a little issue fitting everybody in.
Theo Walcott has been featuring off the bench recently and Jack Wilshere played for the first time this season last weekend: both players will almost definitely be in the squad again.
That probably leaves Joel Campbell as the man to miss out on the bench should Cazorla be selected.
There will be even more of a headache for the boss when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is deemed fit enough to play, but that’s an issue for another time.
“It’s Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first week in full training now, so I don’t think I will select him this weekend.”
