Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil has said he is proud to have been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
The German international has been superb for Arsenal this season, scoring six Premier League goals and creating a further 18 of the 55 the Gunners have managed to net in the league.
Up against Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kanté, Harry Kane and Dimitri Payet for the accolade voted for by fellow Premier League players, Özil has his work cut out to actually win the award and isn’t helped by the fact that his best form came earlier in the campaign.
Still, at least he has been recognised and nominated. Good luck, Mesut!
