As Alex Iwobi slotted home his second goal in two games against Watford on Sunday, I sent out a Tweet.

I wondered if I might hook a few United fans, but I wasn’t quite prepared for what was to follow.

My crime? I compared Iwobi, with his two goals and one assist in his last two games, with Anthony Martial.

Actually, I didn’t even do that.

I saw a chance to have a little laugh at how much United paid for Martial, and Iwobi seemed like a good vehicle to do that.

No-one with any sort of sense would have failed to see how loaded the tweet was and how it was nothing to take seriously:

But then United fans are notorious for being able to dish it out and not take it.

I’m not sure what is funnier – that they are so touchy about the price they paid for Martial, or the fact that so many got so angry over what was clearly not even something serious.
