Manchester United couldn’t do Arsenal or Leicester a favour by taking points off Tottenham on Sunday afternoon as they received another north London thumping but they did help the Gunners in the race for top four.

The Old Trafford side were delayed getting to White Hart Lane, having to spend two hours on the coach but they started brightly despite their travel woes.

Spurs, however, grew into the game and by the end of the first half were very lucky not to be in the lead as they annoyingly continued to show a desire and spirit to do what’s needed that has been lacking at times this season in N5.

Games between Spurs and United are generally entertaining and this one was no different.

Having watched Leicester claim all the points earlier in the day against Sunderland, Tottenham knew what they needed to do to close the gap on them and extend their lead over Arsenal.

In the second half Tottenham just destroyed United with a quick-blast, six-minute treble that kept them in the title hunt but also helped move Arsenal towards top four safety.

Woop.

No doubt the Arsenal hierarchy will be celebrating tonight.

Tottenham are now six points ahead of Arsenal.

United are six behind in fifth place.

Meanwhile, Man City are just two points behind Arsenal with West Ham a further five back in the race for the top four.

Leicester and Tottenham have five games left, United and Arsenal six.

Six points clear of fifth with six to go, top four trophy here we come again!
