There’s not much love lost between Arsenal and Liverpool fans, but Gooners everywhere were sort-of celebrating as the Reds put a dent in Tottenham’s title hopes and offered Arsenal the chance to move to within one point of their north London rivals if they win their game in hand.

If only they’d been less useless and got all three points. Liverpool, not Tottenham. Tottenham ruin everything.

Liverpool took the lead through Coutinho but being rubbish couldn’t hold on and allowed Harry Kane to score yet another great goal.

Of course, the biggest winners of the day were Leicester who can increase their lead at the top of the table to seven points should they beat Southampton on Sunday, but there’s no denying the boost this will give Arsenal.

Losing the title to the Foxes is one thing, but failing to win it when Tottenham do? Unthinkable. It’s generally unthinkable for Arsenal to finish below Spurs, so this helps in that chase at least, if not the league one.

This has been one crazy-assed season and with seven games still to be played (six if you’re Tottenham), who can say what will happen?

If Arsenal can find a way to play like they did against Watford in their remaining games, who knows?

It really is the hope that kills you.
