Cesc Fabregas has now overtaken Dennis Bergkamp’s assist record.

The Chelsea playmaker notched his 95th assist against Bournemouth at the weekend, surpassing the Flying Dutchman’s record by one. The Spaniard still has a long way to go before he overtakes the likes of Frank Lampard (102) and Ryan Giggs (162) but I don’t think it’s any secret that he’s a decent midfielder.

“Sometimes you don’t have it for a while and then all of a sudden in one game you get many,” Fabregas said.

“I am happy for the team performance and for my individual performance. I’m feeling good.”

Cesc hasn’t had as good a season as his first at Chelsea but he’s still been a useful player to the club. It’s hard to see where he would have fitted in our Arsenal side had we bought him back but there’s no point speculating now.

Since joining Chelsea in 2014, the 28-year-old has assisted 33 and scored 10, which is by no means terrible. Like Eden Hazard though, he will be hoping to get a better season under his belt next year if he’s going to live up to the hype.
