Arsenal are reportedly interested in Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick.
The 34-year-old has only made 24 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season and although this is more than last season, when injuries meant he only featured 21 times in all competitions, the midfielder isn’t too happy.
Although it was initially thought the Englishman would be signing a new contract in Manchester, this now doesn’t seem to be the case and with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini set to leave Arsenal in the summer, there would be an opening. He’s an experienced international midfielder, which is what we need – and he would be free.
Would he move to Arsenal after 10 years at United? I reckon he would. This is likely to be the last big contract of his career so he’d probably take playing over personal loyalty – just look at Danny Welbeck. In addition, Louis van Gaal clearly isn’t that bothered about keeping hold of him so why would he mind him going to a rival?
However, how often does Wenger look within the Premier League to strengthen the Arsenal squad? Rarely.
