He back!

Emmanuel Eboue has signed for Sunderland, and another club has got a new mascot.

Sunderland fans are probably wondering what they’ve let themselves in for by signing the former Arsenal man. Rather than let only my opinion sway you, I asked the writers from the site to chip in as well.

In honour of Emmanuel, not all of them could be bothered.

For me, Eboue will always be a player who goes down too easily and will cost you with some sort of stupidity. Arsenal fans only ‘worshipped’ him because they felt guilty for booing him off when he was a subbed sub. Nobody ever only went to ‘see Eboue.’

Anita – A funny guy that will entertain both his teammates and fans, but whose defensive skills are even funnier than his off-pitch shenanigans.

Nia – Expect banter levels to increase by 60 – 65%.

Matthew – The team joker whose exuberance helped mask a lack of progress after a very good first season, but who later became a lightning rod for fan anger, before achieving a degree of redemption. Like a relationship with someone you will always have affection for, but ultimately it was never going to work out with. No ill feeling, but you can’t help wondering how it ever lasted so long!

Look, it’s not all bad. He has his moments and even though he’s 32 now, he’s not the worst defender in the world.

It’s everything else that comes with him that’s the problem.

Good luck!
