Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey has signed a new deal with the club.

Now 21, Macey has been on the bench 15 times this season but is yet to make his first-team debut. Injuries to Petr Čech and David Ospina have allowed the tall stopper to sit on the bench regularly though and you have to think his debut isn’t too far away.

Playing for u21s this season, the former Bristol Rovers goalkeeper has kept three clean sheets in nine appearances.

Last season, Arsenal loaned the goalkeeper to Accrington Stanley, where he made four appearances before returning to north London. With a new contract signed, a loan deal seems likely for next season in order to continue Macey’s development.

Congratulations to Matt on the new deal, let’s hope he continues progressing well and has the chance to leave an impression on the fans before too much longer.
