Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen might have joked about injuring Kasper Schmeichel when the two players met on international duty, but fate was listening and has handed the Leicester keeper a ‘minor muscle injury.’

UPDATE added after post went live – Schmeichel comments on issue at bottom of post

One of the key reasons Leicester have been so consistent this season is their lack of injuries but now, as the title race enters the home run, they will need to make sure that luck holds.

It might just have started to crack.

The severity of the injury is not yet known but Schmeichel is expected to miss out on Denmark’s game against Scotland on Tuesday after having to withdraw from training.

He will undergo an assessment by the national team doctors before a final decision is made regarding Tuesday’s game.

The thigh problem could see him sidelined for a few weeks but as it’s is being described as minor (also as a ‘tightening’ rather than a pull at this point) and Leicester have clearly sold their soul to the Footballing Gods this season, I would fully expect to see him back in goal and pulling off world class saves in their Premier League game against Southampton at the King Power.
