Leicester City legend Matt Elliott has claimed Arsenal are desperate to sign Steve Walsh, the Foxes’ head of recruitment.

The former Leicester defender was happily praising Claudio Ranieri and his players when he moved on to Walsh, the man credited with finding Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kanté, two players signed from France who have driven Leicester’s title charge.

“Steve Walsh, for instance, has been a massive influence,” Elliott said. “Arsenal are desperate to have him on their staff and he’s just as much in demand as any of our players.

“But ultimately it is down the players, such as Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante and [Riyad] Mahrez.”

Well if Walsh discovered the players and the players are the ones performing, surely it’s ultimately down to Walsh?

Anyway, the Gunners have already managed to poach video analyst Ben Wrigglesworth from Leicester this season and signing Walsh would be another coup. There’s little doubt the Arsenal scouting team is strong, Mohamed Elneny looks like another top find, but in a game of fine margins every advantage is a welcome one.

Whether or not Walsh would even consider leaving the King Power Stadium is another matter altogether but it would be no surprise to see Arsenal try and tempt him to north London.
