Marcelo Brozovic has been heavily linked with moves to both Arsenal and Chelsea, but the Inter Milan midfielder insists he’s happy in Italy – for now.
His statement will no doubt have Inter fans a little concerned because it was one of those designed to say what his fans want to hear while leaving the door wide open for a summer move.
Speaking to the Croatian site, Jutarnji, Brozovic said “I have read and heard these rumors, but now I am an Inter player and are completely focused on my team.
“For now, I am an Inter player and so behave [as one].
“Staying at Inter? Anything is possible, we will see.
“After the European Championship we will know better, yet not there is nothing to say, it is too early. ”
The 23-year-old signed for Inter from Dinamo Zagreb on loan in the summer and the Italian giants are not guaranteed to keep him past the end of the season. They paid £2.25m for his loan deal.
He has three goals and three assists in 24 Serie A appearances and a total of six goals and four assists when you factor in Coppa Italian matches.
A central midfielder, he can also play as an attacking or defensive midfielder and would seem to tick a lot of Arsene Wenger boxes.
The manager will be looking to recruit in the midfield and likes to sign players who can adapt to a wide range of central positions (it’s why he’s never signed an out-and-out defensive midfielder. Flamini doesn’t count).
Brozovic’s contract with Dinamo Zagreb runs until 2019 and he is valued at around £8.63m, his highest ever market value.
Zagreb signed him for just £450k (from NK Lokomotiva) in 2012 and look set to make a nice little profit whenever they sell him on.
