A draw, in the grand scheme of things, was not terrible for Arsenal on Saturday.
It may well have been terrible in the context of the title race and it definitely would’ve looked bad when the game was 50 minutes old, but after going down to 10 men and surrendering their lead, the Gunners would’ve been ok with a point.
The issue is, our horrible recent record at the wrong end of Seven Sisters Road goes on. A win there in the League Cup earlier in the season was wonderful but ultimately it was the League Cup. No, in the Premier League the Gunners have now won just once in eight Premier League games in N17.
Obviously that win came courtesy of Tomas Rosicky’s wonderful striker early in the game in 2013/14, gifting us a memorable 1-0 victory.
Saturday’s draw and that win aside, Arsenal have drawn two and lost four of the other six White Hart Lane appearances since a 3-1 win in 2007.
A horrible 3-3 draw which I don’t want to recount for the state of my mental health is joined by a dull 0-0 in which Emmanuel Eboué was sent off.
Then there are the defeats, which were all by two goals to one. Thank goodness we didn’t relive another one of those this time around. So, after a long successful record in this derby we have struggled badly away from home against our rivals from Middlesex.
Saturday looked like it would change that, but, well, never mind.
