18-year-old goalkeeper, Hugo Keto, describes Petr Cech as the perfect player to learn from while at Arsenal.
The Finnish shot-stopper signed for us in 2014 and when we signed Petr Cech from Chelsea a year later, he was bound to be excited. Learning from one of the best in the world would be a huge rush for any young player.
Speaking with Arsenal recently, Keto revealed that Cech is incredibly calm and great at giving advice – something that quite a few Gunners have mentioned already. He also explained how they train together and that he couldn’t wish for a better person to learn from.
“I feel that I have improved a lot this season and have been working hard on crosses and my kicking and trying to eliminate mistakes in games and I can say that things are going well,” Keto said.
“We all work well as goalkeepers with our coaches and training with Petr Cech has also helped.
“He is ready to give advice which I really appreciate and I like to learn from his temperament. He is a strong calm character. I cannot remember a single mistake he has made this season after the first game of the season.
“That shows how strong minded he is. I am naturally a calm character and Petr’s approach suits me. He is perfect for me to watch and learn from.”
The young goalkeepers at our club must be rubbing their hands together with glee at the prospect of learning from Petr Cech and it sounds as if the 33-year-old doesn’t mind giving out tips behind the scenes either. I definitely see a future in coaching for the Czech international, if that’s what he wants.
