Leicester City are top of the Premier League thanks to how they work as a team.
But make no mistake, two men have set their title charge on fire. Leading from the front, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are the two super-charged offensive players scoring and creating the goals to fire Leicester into contention.
But who is more dangerous?
“Goalscoring: Vardy. Providing: Mahrez,” Arsène Wenger definitively answered on Friday morning.
“Mahrez can create chances from very tight areas, so I would say that’s why they worl well together. What’s amazing from Mahrez is he is not only a provider, (but also) the number of goals he’s scored this season.”
Vardy is the Premier League’s top goalscorer with 18 strikes, but Mahrez has managed a total of 14 already this season. Those include wonderful goals against Chelsea and Manchester City, both created out of absolutely nothing – he’s dangerous.
The chances he’s created have also been pivotal: 10 assists is almost double that of any other player at the club. His vision is good, and he superb close control makes him a constant threat.
Arsenal fortunately have Nacho Monreal, who has been the best left-back in the Premier League this year. If he can keep Mahrez in check this weekend, our chances of beating Leicester will increase hugely. No pressure, Nacho.
