Yaya Sanogo is due to spend the rest of the season out on loan to Championship club Charlton and admitted that he did speak to former loanee, Francis Coquelin, before joining.
Coquelin was actually at the London club when we had to recall him due to injuries to the first team. However, the midfielder hasn’t looked back since not only doing a job but overtaking Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini in the pecking order.
Arsenal obviously have a good relationship with Charlton, considering we also loaned Carl Jenkinson to them a few seasons ago, so the fact that we chose them for Sanogo made perfect sense.
Speaking after joining the club, the striker admitted that he had spoken to Coq before joining.
“I spoke to my friend Francis Coquelin and he told me a few things about the club,” he said.
“He said that this was a good club and that is would be a good choice for me to come here.
“My first day here was very good. I met all of my teammates the manager and I am happy to sign with Charlton.
“I want to help us to stay in the league and I will work very hard to try and do that.”
The move will be great for Yaya, who had his loan spell at Ajax cut short. He should definitely get playing time and will hopefully finally find his form.
