United legend-turned-pundit, Paul Scholes, has said that he fears for his old side on Sunday should they play the same backline that they put out in the Europa League on Thursday night.
United are currently enduring a terrible run with injuries, something Arsenal fans can empathise with, and are without Phil Jones, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw at the back. Macus Rojo is only just returning but Chris Smalling should be back to face Arsenal.
“I don’t think he’s [van Gaal] got much choice really [to play the same lineup],” Scholes told BTSport.
“I think that’s more-or-less the team you’re going to see on Sunday. We know it’s a massive step up against Arsenal.
“Arsenal are a very good team with brilliant attacking players and I’d fear for them a little bit on Sunday with that back four, to be honest with you.
“Hopefully, I’m wrong but you look at the pace, power and the strength that Arsenal have, I think it will be difficult.”
Arsenal travel to Old Trafford as favourites for the first time even though they are seeking only their second win there in the league in ten years.
