So there are reports going around that Mathieu Flamini absolutely will not be offered a new deal by Arsenal.

This is not a shock. The Gunners were trying to offload the player all of last summer but didn’t manage to get rid of him, and injuries have led to him playing a surprisingly significant role in the side this season.

Two goals at White Hart Lane and a pretty good performance remain the highlights, I won’t go into the lowlights.

According to various reports the midfielder is interested in staying at Arsenal for another year (I’m sure he is!) but it is not reciprocal in any way. Arsenal will let his huge contract run down and he will leave the club.

Flamini has become a surprising fixture in the side over the winter, but his involvement from the bench against Barcelona was not a positive one on Tuesday night, conceding a penalty within a minute and as good as ending the tie.

Anyway Mathieu, thanks for the memories.
