Now an Arsenal player and very much a Londoner, it doesn’t feel like Héctor Bellerín is agitating to move back to Barcelona.

Born in the Spanish city, the right-back joined the Spanish giants at the age of eight and was there from 2003 until 2011, when he moved to London to progress his career with Arsenal instead.

Having broken into the side at the Emirates Stadium, he faced his boyhood club for the first time on Tuesday night and gave a great display. So great, in fact, that (according to Sport, per Sport Witness) Barcelona legends Gerard Piqué and Andres Iniesta met with him after the match to congratulate him on his performance.

But could it be something a bit more sinister than that?

Arsenal signed Cesc Fàbregas back in 2003, and his breakthrough and undeniable talent only led to a charm offensive from Barcelona and the players – such as Piqué and Xavi Hernandez – until the then Arsenal captain did everything in his power to force a transfer.

With right-back Dani Alves already 32 and Bellerín just 20, he is a perfect age for last season’s Champions League winners. He’s also a perfect fit, with his attacking instincts and incredible pace fitting into the way Barça play perfectly.

Though he ended up on the losing side, Bellerín was excellent throughout the game and there’s little doubt people at Barcelona will be wondering whether or not they can tempt him ‘home’.
