In what will come as welcome news to Gooners, Arsenal are reportedly about to sign Alexis Sanchez to a brand new, shiny deal.

According to Football Insider, we’re going to pin the Chilean down for another 5-and-a-half years in a deal worth £51.5m in wages.

If these figures are true, I don’t see anyone really protesting. There’s no point paying for top quality players if we don’t fork out the finances to keep them at the club. There are going to be plenty of big clubs sniffing around the forward come summer, despite him only signing for us in 2014, and we need to tie him down for the long haul if we’re going to definitely keep hold of him.

Alexis has only just returned from a hamstring injury picked up earlier in the season against Norwich and although he’s still not fully fit, watching him since his return, it’s clear how much we missed him.

Pay him whatever he wants!
